Review Methodology & Evidence Standards

How Security Safety Reviewer assesses security companies, checks evidence, evaluates customer feedback and awards recognition.

Scope of a desk review #

A desk review evaluates information that is publicly available or supplied for assessment. It is not a site inspection, product certification, regulatory audit or guarantee of future performance unless a review explicitly documents such a process.

Sources considered #

Potential sources include company websites, published service and contact details, independently hosted customer reviews, examples of completed work, evidence of accreditation and direct communications where documented. Evidence should be linked or described so readers can assess its reliability.

Customer feedback #

We consider recurring themes, specificity, recency, review volume and how businesses respond to problems. A five-star Google rating or another platform score is reported as that platform's customer rating; it is not automatically an SSR award score. Screenshots supplied by third parties should be identified as such.

Technical and service assessment #

Factors may include system design around actual site requirements, manufacturer familiarity, installation workmanship, commissioning, remote access, maintenance, support responsiveness, transparency about pricing and clear explanations of limitations. Assertions about technical competence require supporting evidence.

Accessibility and contact routes #

We examine how easily customers can find service information and reach the business, including telephone, email and contact forms where available. We also consider whether customer needs are addressed through tailored proposals and accessible communication.

Editorial conclusions and award tiers #

The editorial verdict summarises strengths and limitations. Bronze, Silver and Gold are separate recognitions governed by the published award criteria. A business may receive a positive review without being granted an award. Award eligibility should not be inferred solely from customer ratings.

Limits and updates #

Website content, phone numbers, accreditation status and review totals can change. Where an important fact cannot be independently confirmed, we identify that limitation instead of implying certainty. Readers can submit corrections or further evidence.
